Former Banyana Star Takes Up Coaching Job In Europe

Posted on October 3, 2025

Former Banyana Banyana captain Janine van Wyk has been named as assistant coach at Kristianstad DFF in the Damallsvenskan (Swedish Women’s Football League) for the 2026 season.

Van Wyk will be working alongside new head coach Nik Chamberlain which will be her first coaching gig abroad after she acquired her UEFA B Coaching Licence in Scotland as well as a CAF B coaching diploma.

The AFCON-winning Van Wyk has expressed her delight at leaving South African shores to test herself in Europe.

“I’m thrilled and excited for this opportunity,” said Van Wyk, according to CentreCircle.online.

“I’m truly honored and excited to be joining KDFF as an assistant coach. Coming from South Africa, this is a special new chapter in my coaching journey to grow in a top league and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a fantastic and respected club.

“I look forward to working hard alongside the staff and players to achieve great things together.”

Van Wyk currently coaches and co-owns JVW in the Hollywoodbets Super League, a club she founded with Lauren Duncan.

The Blue Diamonds haven’t had the best of runs this season and are placed fifth on the table with 39 points after 20 games – winning 11 games, drawing six and losing three.
