Pirates Stay Top As Chiefs, Stellies & Downs All Lose

Posted on September 28, 2025

It was a weekend of huge upsets as Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch FC all lost their DStv Diski Challenge ties while Orlando Pirates remained unbeaten after another win to stay top of the league.

On Saturday, the Buccaneers turned on the heat with a convincing 2-0 win over TS Galaxy to maintain their spot at the top of the standings.

Elsewhere, Orbit College picked up a huge 2-1 win over Golden Arrows in KwaZulu-Natal while Marumo Gallants edged Chippa United 3-2.

Sunday produced 12 goals across all five fixtures with defending champions Amakhosi losing their second match on the trot after going down 1-0 to AmaZulu FC at Sturrock Park.

The biggest upset of the weekend saw newcomers Siwelele FC hammer Stellies 3-0. Durban City were the other newcomers who recorded a thumping win as Aphelele Zondi netted a hat-trick while Luphumlo Sifumba scored a brace as they brushed aside Magesi FC 5-0.

In the Limpopo Derby, Sekhukhune United held off their provincial rivals Polokwane City to record a 2-0 win.

Masandawana were brought back to earth after their big win last weekend narrowly going down 1-0 at home to Richards Bay.
