Ex-Downs Star Reacts After Scoring In Huge Win For New Club

Posted on September 26, 2025

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine de Reuck opened the scoring for Simba SC in their 3-0 thumping of Fountain Gate FC in their first Tanzanian Premier League match of the season.

De Reuck, 29, joined the Reds of Msimbazi from Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns after a brief loan stint with Maccabi Petah Tikva in Israel.

De Reuck, who could not hide his excitement, scored after just six minutes with a towering header before Jean Ahoua added the second in the 37th minute and Jonathan Sowah completed the rout in the 58th minute.

“I am very happy, because it was important to start the season on a good way, and we managed to do that, so I am very happy that we managed to win,” De Reuck told Simba media after the game.

“It is a special feeling, even before the game, I envisioned that I’m going to score today.

“Just happy that I was able to help the team and contribute to the team’s performance. It’s a nice feeling to play at home, in front of our fans and to be able to win today is a special feeling, and hopefully we can continue this way and continue to make our fans proud.

“It wasn’t an easy game, and it was important for us to go into the game with the right mentality, and I am sure if we do that.

“We will be able to get the win again.”
