‘You’re not on holiday because Nabi left’: Masilela warns Chiefs coaches

Posted on September 26, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs legend Tsepo Masilela says the pressure is on the two Amakhosi coaches to deliver results in the coming matches.

Despite a promising start to the 2025/26 season, Chiefs have dropped eight points in their last four Betway Premiership matches. Last weekend, the Glamour Boys suffered a 1-0 first-leg defeat to Angolan side Kabuscorp in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Speaking on Soccer Beat, Masilela felt Chiefs lacked impact players from the bench.

“It’s a big concern and looking at the upcoming fixture, they are a goal down; they need goals. If they don’t attack, create and score, it means they are out; they are going home. They should also check and revisit what was working in their first five games, where they did not concede,” said the former left-back.

With Nasreddine Nabi ‘suspended’, Amakhosi are now led by Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze. The two coaches have a big role to play if Chiefs are to turn their season around.

“The coaches, if they lose over the weekend, the pressure switches up. We’re not talking Nabi now; their heads are on the block. They need to know that they are not on holiday because Nabi just left, it’s a game of results,” Masilela added.

Amakhosi host Kabuscorp in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup this Saturday at the FNB Stadium. Masilela had urged Kaizer Chiefs to revisit what worked for them during their first three matches of the season. Under Ben Youssef, Amakhosi won three consecutive matches without conceding.

Nabi took over briefly, but a heavy defeat to Sekhukhune United earlier this month saw the Tunisian stepping aside. It is unknown at this stage if he will stay.

Will Chiefs improve in the coming days?
