Nine players have waved goodbye to Kaizer Chiefs

Posted on September 23, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs have trimmed their squad again, with Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane the latest to head out the Naturena gate.

The pair follow after seven others in what has been a whirlwind transfer window for Amakhosi.

Their departures add more weight to the club’s reshuffle after finally ending a decade-long trophy drought with the Nedbank Cup title last term.

KAIZER CHIEFS LIST OF DEPARTED PLAYERS GOES UP TO NINE

The departures of Zwane and Mashiane bring the total number of Amakhosi exits to nine.

While some of the departed players have already secured new homes, others remain free agents in search of new clubs.

Sabelo Radebe, 25, central midfielder

The Soweto-born star, known as “Bibo,” was loaned to Richards Bay last season, where he made only three appearances. He has yet to find a new club.

Mduduzi Mdantsane, 30, attacking midfielder

After 16 appearances with zero goals and assists over two seasons, Mdantsane’s career in Soweto offered no signs of taking off. The Leandra-born left-footer is yet to find a new club.

Edmilson Dove, 31, central defender/left back

Since the PSL only allows five foreigners per team, Kaizer Chiefs had to make a tough call. Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove was the one sacrificed to make space for Equatorial Guinea’s Flavio da Silva. Dove’s new home? An adventure in the Iraqi Stars League with Al Quwa Al Jawiya.

Bongani Sam, 30, left-back

The former Orlando Pirates full-back joined on the eve of the 2024/25 season. Sam left Amakhosi at the end of that season without a single appearance in an official match. The Gqeberha-born defender has yet to sign for a new club.

Yusuf Maart, 30, central midfielder

After leading Kaizer Chiefs to the club’s first trophy in a decade, the former Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United skipper fulfilled his career dream: a move to Europe with Austria’s SV Ried.

Ranga Chivaviro, 32, striker

With the arrivals of new strikers da Silva and Etiosa Ighodaro, Chivaviro was let go after nine goals and one assist in 45 games for Amakhosi. He is now playing his football for Al-Adalah FC in the Saudi Pro League.

Tebogo Potsane, 31, winger

The speedy left winger was released before he rejoined his former club, Siwelele FC, after just 19 games as a Glamour Boy.

LOANS TO SIWELELE FC

Samkelo Zwane, 23, midfielder

Following the arrivals of Thabo Cele, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Lebohang Maboe in midfield, the Reims-born academy graduate has been loaned to Siwelele until the end of the term.

Happy Mashiane, 27, left back

Like Zwane, Mashiane was below the pecking order in his playing position. The left-back queue includes Pasek Mako, Bradley Cross and Nkanyiso Shinga.
