Tinkler Comments On Title Talk

Posted on September 21, 2025

Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler has maintained that it’s too early to speak about his side being contenders for the league title despite their unbeaten record so far this season.

This comes after Bradley Grobler scored the only goal in injury-time against Golden Arrows at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday to see Babina Noko open a four-point gap at the summit of the Betway Premiership log with 19 points.

This was the Limpopo side’s sixth win in seven league matches and they are one of two unbeaten sides so far. Asked if he sees Sekhukhune as an outside contender Tinkler said it’s too early for that conversation however they want to stay in the top spots.

“I told you it’s still very early days in the season and we want to be up there,” said Tinkler.

“That’s been the purpose and our objective since I’ve arrived at the club that we want to be competing at the highest level.

“So that’s what we’re going to try and achieve but to talk about winning the league way too early.

“I think, very important that we stay grounded don’t let our success so far go to our heads, both players and us as technical staff.

“We’ve worked extremely hard to get where we are and that work needs to continue.”
