Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso says midfielder Marcello Allende is underrated in South Africa and is a quality player.
Allende was on the score sheet when the defending champions came from a goal down to defeat Durban City 3-1 in the league on Saturday in the capital city.
The Chilean received the ball from Tashreeq Mathews and turned in the box to score the equaliser that brought his side back in the game and ultimately earn three points to stay within a point of log leaders Sekhukhune United on the standings.
Cardoso was asked about the player’s impact this season after the game and expressed how his thoughts on the midfielder being underrated.
“I think it’s important that South Africa in general understands the level of player that Marcelo is,” he said on SuperSport TV.
“I think he’s a little bit underrated. He was never, until the moment, really recognized by the quality that he has.
“As much as I am concerned I want that he feels pleasure and freedom to play and to express himself. And that freedom allows him, indeed, to look for other spaces, for other things.
“And I stay pretty happy with what he can show, fantastic player that we all have the privilege to see playing football.”
