Kaizer Chiefs break silence on Nabi

Posted on September 20, 2025

Over the last couple of days it has been widely reported that Nasreddine Nabi has parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs under difficult circumstances.

The reasons behind this have varied, from rumours related to issues over his CAF licence, to internal politics at the club, to a family matter at home.

It is still not clear exactly what the full story may be, and Chiefs have not really clarified all that much after a strange silence ever since the news broke on Wednesday.

However, the club has now confirmed that Nabi is not with the team as they prepare to take on Kabuscorp SCP in the first-leg of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.

Kaizer Chiefs have now released a statement on Nabi

“Kaizer Chiefs confirms that Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi is currently not with the team as discussions between the Club and the Coach remain ongoing. The matter is internal in nature and is being addressed through the appropriate processes,” a club statement read.

“The Club remains focused on ensuring stability and continuity for the players and supporters during this period. As this is an internal matter, no further details will be shared at this stage.

“We appreciate the continued support and understanding of our supporters and the broader football community. Any updates will be communicated through official Club channels when appropriate.”

STRANGE STATEMENT

Earlier this week, Nabi was quoted by some media, particularly in North African publication WinWin where it was reported that the coach had confirmed his exit from Chiefs. However, these quotes have also not been verified.

“My separation from Kaizer Chiefs was a mutual agreement with the club’s management, following a successful and challenging experience,” Nabi was quoted as saying “Currently, I need some time to rest, focus more on my family, and monitor my wife’s health, which has required me to be by her side over the past period,” Nabi was quoted as saying.”
