‘I knew I was gonna win trophies at Pirates’ – Appollis

Posted on September 15, 2025

Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis admitted he came to the Buccaneers to win trophies.

The 24-year-old attacker joined the Soweto giants from Polokwane City in July and has enjoyed a good start to his Bucs career. In the nine matches he played for the Sea Robbers, Appollis has made four assists and scored once.

On Saturday, he was introduced in the second half of the MTN8 final against Stellebosch FC and turned the game on its head. He provided two assists in extra time to help Orlando Pirates win 3-0 at the Mbombela Stadium.

After Saturday’s final, the Bafana Bafana said he came to Pirates to win trophies. It only took him nine matches to lift his first silverware in his career.

“When Pirates wanted me, I didn’t hesitate because I knew I was gonna win trophies,” Appollis told OP TV.

“And it happened and I’m very happy to be a champion but we have to give credit to the whole team for fighting today.

“And congratulations to the whole Pirates group for being champions today.”

Appollis will also play in the CAF Champions League for the first time as Pirates play Lioli of Lesotho in the first round of the competition.

Can Appollis get more trophies?
