TS Galaxy winger Puso Dithejane has opened up about how he left former side Kaizer Chiefs, saying reports that he and former teammate Omega Mdaka refused to be ball boys were true.
The duo was at the time part of Amakhosi’s development side and looked like potential prospects to be promoted to the first team but refused to be ball retrievers during a senior team match.
Subsequently Dithejane was released only to be snatched up by the Rockets, where he has enjoyed an impressive two-and-a-half-year stint.
He is currently among the top goal scorers in the Betway Premiership after scoring his first hat-trick against Chippa United, and was named Player of the Month for August. The 21-year-old spoke to iDiski Times senior journalist Lorenz Köhler in edition 219 of the newspaper where he admitted the ball-boy allegations.
“Ja, it’s all the truth,” Dithejane told iDiski Times.
“I left because I refused to be a ball boy. We had a meeting before leaving. We didn’t have a disciplinary hearing. We just had a meeting. Then they told us we must leave. Then we left.”
Asked if he regrets the incident, Dithejane insisted it has contributed to becoming the player he is today.
“I’m for me now. I can’t say that, because I’m improved now and I’ve added something in my career. So I won’t say that,” he continued.
Dithejane further said he was sad to leave Naturena because he had hopes of rising in the club’s ranks, however he did not rule out returning to Chiefs in the future.
“Um, I felt sad, obvious, and I was hoping I could play for Kaizer Chiefs,” added Dithejane.
“And maybe, maybe not, maybe I’m going to play there [in the future], but then I’m here at TS Galaxy now, focusing here. But I was hoping to play there and I was working hard for that spot in the first team.”
