SA U20 head coach Raymond Mdaka has announced his 30-man preliminary squad for the Under-20 FIFA World Cup to be held in Chile next month.
The 2024 COSAFA Champions and 2025 AFCON U20 Champions have been pitted in Group E alongside France, USA and debutants New Caledonia.
Regular names like Fletcher Smythe-Lowe, Tylon Smith, Mfundo Vilakazi, Langelihle Phili and Kutlwano Letlhaku, just to name a few, have once again made the cut but there was a notable exclusion for young Orlando Pirates captain Mbekezeli Mbokazi who is expected to be named in Hugo Broos’ 2026 FIFA Qualifiers squad on Thursday as they take on Lesotho and Nigeria.
The tournament kicks off on 27 September, as 24 teams are set to battle it out for global glory.
