Kaizer Chiefs confirm 10th signing

Posted on August 26, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs have officially signed midfielder Lebohang Maboe, marking their 10th acquisition of the current season.

Maboe, who was part of the club’s youth development academy during his teenage years, returns to Naturena after stints with SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Maritzburg United.

The 30-year-old attacking midfielder has also earned 13 caps for Bafana Bafana.

Valuable experience

“We know Lebo is a quality player who has gained valuable experience in continental competitions over the past few years.

“His expertise will be crucial for us in both the domestic league and the CAF Confederation Cup.

“We’re pleased to welcome him back to Amakhosi. He was here and knows the culture and what our supporters expect from our players,” said Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr.

He was reportedly a target for Durban City coach Gavin Hunt, who revealed that he wanted to sign Maboe, but he has chosen to sign for Amakhosi.

Busy transfer window

The Soweto giants have been busy in the market, recently announcing the arrivals of Etiosa Ighodaro, Luke Baartman and Asanele Velebayi, in addition to the earlier signings of Ethan Chislett, Flavio Silva, Nkanyiso Shinga, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako.

Amakhosi, who are off to a perfect start in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season having won all three of their matches to date, next face defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, 27 August.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
