Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele is only targeting automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership next season.
Mphahlele said this at the side’s season launch and unveiling of nine new players including former Royal AM and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Mondli Mpoto.
The club boss gave assurance and confidence in head coach Dan Malesela to get the team to the Promised Land while also adding he has made sure that the players are taken care of to be able to deliver as well.
Mphahlele went to compare his side with Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns and challenged his players to also be winners on the pitch like the Brazilians.
“This year I’m putting my head on the block we are returning to the PSL,” said Mphahlele.
“I’m putting my head on the block. Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela is not here with us today he’s attending a family funeral so don’t be alarmed when you are not seeing him. He is still with us. He is the one who is going to take this team to the Premier League. Even his assistant is not here today unfortunately his wife had a miscarriage, that why he is not here as well.
“And Baroka boys under the captaincy of Ananias Gebhardt we want nothing, nothing except to win the league. I want nothing and we want nothing and if you can’t do it walk away. Mafori [Financial Group] is giving us money. You are going to get paid well, on time, without any problems so do not disappoint us.
“This club is the most professional club in our league. Everyone in our league wants to play for Baroka FC if you didn’t know. Every player wants to play for Baroka FC as much as every player wants to play for Sundowns in the Premier League. We are the Sundowns of this league why can’t we win it too. Sundowns won that league so many times.
“And we pay a lot of money; the salary we pay nobody can pay. You can go to any team and that is why we signed a Bafana Bafana goalkeeper today. “
