Ben Youssef explains why Kaizer Chiefs were without three new signings

Posted on August 12, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has explained why Amakhosi’s three new signings were not available during the team’s 2-0 win over Stellenbosch this past weekend.

Amakhosi were without Flavio Silva, Nkanyiso Shinga and Ethan Chislett were not part of the squad. The team also played without head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who had to travel to Tunisia to be with his injured wife. His assistant Ben Youssef was in charge this past weekend and explained that Silva and Chislett were still waiting for their work permit.

“When the new players come back to join us it will be better, they will give us more solutions, we waiting for them [for work permits], we continue to work,” he said as per iDiski Times.

Kaizer Chiefs have made six signings

“The most important things that we discussed now in the changing room is that we finished today’s game against Stellenbosch and we start thinking about the next game against Polokwane City. The most difficult thing for us is always think about the second game,” Ben Youssef added.

“As a coach, we have prepare for different playing plan, A, B, C, D, lot of plans, because they can get injury last training session.

“So for us, we prepare all the team, all of them, they can start the game. We prepare all the situation. And if they are available to play, it’s we are lucky if they are not available, it’s our job to prepare the next play.”

With six new signings, it remains to be seen if Kaizer Chiefs will want to bring in more.
