Kaizer Chiefs: ‘From Pirates to Sundowns’

Posted on August 8, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs are linked with several big-name signings from all over the PSL.

Kaizer Chiefs continue to dominate the transfer news headlines.

So, lets take a look at all the players linked with Amakhosi.

  • Stanley Nwabali
  • Feisal Salum
  • Luke Baartman
  • Asenele Velebayi
  • Lebogang Phiri
  • Fiston Mayele
  • Percy Tau
  • Zakhele Lepasa
  • Dzenan Zajmovic
  • Etiosa Ighodara

Amakhosi’s squad overhaul is well underway. To date, Chiefs have made 18 changes with 10 new players and EIGHT departures confirmed.

However, they are not done with changes yet. As always, Amakhosi continue to be linked with big-name signings. Nwabali is their main goalkeeper target with Chippa open to letting him go. So, it will be up to Amakhosi management to make an offer and Nwabali to decide where he wants to go.

Talks have gone quiet for the likes of Salum, Phiri, Tau and Mayele. Meaning, these moves are unlikely to materialize. In fact, Chiefs have shown no interest in Tau despite the Bafana Bafana attacker disclosing his willlingness to join them at a substantially reduced rate.

Whilst, Mayele brother shut down rumours of joining Chiefs recently. Meanwhile, Lepasa recently left Orlando Pirates. Thus, re-sarking rumours over a possible move to Amakhosi. However, this is just heresay or an idea with no interest confirmed from either party.

POSSIBLE MOVES FOR MIDFIELDER, WINGER AND STRIKER

Chiefs are closing in on two players – Maartman and Velebayi.

Meanwhile, Sundowns striker, Ighodaro is training alone as he contemplates his next move. Chiefs have shown interest and he is on their radar. Whilst, he is currently contracted to The Brazilians.

Therefore, the ball is in his court.

Chiefs are in the market for a striker, a winger and a midfielder. Meanwhile, Amakhosi are considering recruiting a goalkeeper. Meanwhile, more Chiefs players are heading out of Naturena.

SHOULD CHIEFS CONSIDER MAKING AN OFFER FOR TAU, LEPASA OR NWABALI?
