Orlando Pirates are aiming for a record fourth consecutive MTN8 crown, are under new leadership and face growing expectations.

Polokwane City, on the other hand, have been quietly building a strong and disciplined unit that has consistently troubled the country’s top teams.

In the game’s lead-up, Orlando Pirates sent a massive message to supporters who may have plans to buy tickets late.

“The much-anticipated MTN8 season opener between Orlando Pirates and Polokwane City will be played in front of a full house, with tickets for the Saturday showdown already completely sold out,” the club stated.

Kaizer Chiefs delaying another announcement

“Orlando Stadium will be packed to capacity as fans eagerly anticipate their first glimpse of the defending champions in action this season,” the club added.

This means over 35,000 supporters will pack into the historic Soweto venue, creating a charged atmosphere for both sets of players.

For Orlando Pirates, it will be a chance to perform in front of a passionate home crowd in their first competitive fixture under coach Abdeslam Ouaddou. For Polokwane, it’s the kind of high-pressure occasion that could overcome the visitors or inspire an upset.
