Official: Former Downs Winger Mendieta Lands New Club

Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Junior Mendieta has returned to Greece after joining Asteras Tripoli.

Mendieta, 32, had left Sundowns in July last yera to join Volos NPS but was snatched up by Saudi side Al-Faisaly – then coached by Pablo Franco Martin – in January.

However, he has now returned to Greece to link up with the Super League side.

“I am very happy for the opportunity I am given to play for Asteras,” he stated.

“At the same time, I am grateful to the people on the team. I have a lot of desire to continue developing in Greek football.

“I will give my best for the club, the fans and the entire team. We will talk about the rest on the field.”
