Orlando Pirates star Mofokeng wanted by Brazilians

Orlando Pirates will likely need to study some big offers for Relebohile Mofokeng for the rest of the ongoing winter transfer window.

The 20-year-old has admirers far and wide, including from Europe, Saudi Arabia and the Americas.

The latest name linked to the Buccaneers superstar is the 2023 Copa Libertadores winners, Fluminense.

Orlando Pirates’ best XI WITHOUT Mofokeng and Nkota revealed?

Fluminense linked with Orlando Pirates star Mofokeng

According to unfounded local rumours, 2023 Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense are admirers of Orlando Pirates star Rele Mofokeng. The 20-year-old wide attacker scored 15 goals and supplied 12 assists in a scintillating 2024-2025 campaign. As ever, he also shone on the big games and on the big stages. Fluminense has boasted some big names in its history, including Romario, Ronaldinho, Marcelo and Thiago Silva. It remains to be seen whether there is any truth to these rumours, however. Saudi side Al-Ettifaq, who recently signed winger Mohau Nkota from Pirates, have also enquired about Mofokeng.

Lepasa to Chiefs?

Zakhele Lepasa could be the fourth player to trade Pirates for Chiefs in recent seasons after Bongani Sam and new signings Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako.

Pirates have a new captain

29-year-old Nkosinathi Sibisi will wear the captain’s armband at Pirates in 2025-2026. He was a key figure last season alongside breakout star Mbekezeli Mbokazi in the heart of defence after Thabiso Sesane was struck down with a long-term injury. What happens when Sesane returns will be fascinating, as he might even dislodge the new captain. That’s a nice problem for new boss Ouaddao to have, though. Sibisi made 42 appearances last season across all competitions, including 25 in the league.

Orlando Pirates get R31 million EFT, but it comes at a HUGE cost!

Should Mofokeng stay in the PSL for another year?
