Kaizer Chiefs have rushed to extend the contract of a midfielder who’s attracting serious interest from abroad.

Midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is a wanted man in Europe and now, reports suggest the Glamour Boys have triggered their extension option on the midfielder.

Ngcobo reportedly caught the eye of a Dutch side during the club’s pre-season in Europe.

His contract was due to come to an end next season, meaning he was free to sign a pre-season contract with a club of his choice early next year.

Kaizer Chiefs have since minimised the risk of losing their academy graduate for free by exercising their contract extension on him.

“The club is aware that if they don’t exercise his option as soon as possible then they could lose him for free or at least close to nothing because his contract was coming to an end in June 2026,” an insider told Soccer Laduma.

“So with the exercising of the one-year option it gives the club the chance to negotiate a better price if the move was to happen.”
