Nabi confident despite strikers uncertain future

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is entering the new season determined to reverse recent struggles. After missing out on MTN8 qualification twice, the pressure is on to perform better early. “We must hit the ground running,” Nabi said. “The team is building momentum.”

Striker Etiosa Ighodaro remains a key target but is yet to finalize his move from Mamelodi Sundowns. Chiefs insiders say negotiations have slowed, with Sundowns not keen to release him without a fee. Ighodaro has other offers, including from overseas clubs, making the transfer a waiting game.

Despite transfer frustrations, Nabi has been impressed with new signings Ethan Chislett and Flavio Silva. “Their work ethic and skill bring energy to the squad,” Nabi remarked. Pre-season games in the Netherlands gave the team valuable experience, highlighting growing team cohesion.

Defensive concerns linger

Former Chiefs defender Tsepo Masilela highlighted issues at left-back, noting that Nkhanyiso Shinga’s defensive positioning needs improvement. “Defensive stability starts at the back. Shinga has potential but needs to be more consistent,” Masilela said.

Who should Kaizer Chiefs sign?
