Battle of ‘The Brazilians’, for MILLIONS as history beckens

Mamelodi Sundowns have everything to play for in their final Group F encounter against Fluminense.

Mamelodi Sundowns take on Brazilian-based outfit, Fluminense in a MUST-WIN clash at the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday, 25 June 2025.

Kick-off is at 21:00.

SUNDOWNS AND FLUMINENSE – BATTLE OF ‘THE BRAZILIANS’

In South Africa, the PSL champions, Sundowns are known as ‘The Brazilians’.

Meanwhile, Fluminense are actually Brazilian since they come from Brazil. So, this pits ‘The Brazilians’ against a Brazilian-based outfit at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Both sides have Brazilian flair and it shows in their attacking and highly-entertaining brands of football.

Sundowns have scored four goals in their opening two matches. Whilst, Fluminense have scored the same amount of goals over the same time frame.

‘KNOCK-OUT’ MATCH FOR BOTH SIDES

Both sides are on the brink of qualifying for the Round of 16.

However, a loss for either team will see them knocked out of the competition.

So, it is ultimately a play-off match for Sundowns because they have to win. Whereas, a draw would see Masandawana knocked out on goal difference.

MORE MONEY! – MILLIONS UP FOR GRABS

To date, Sundowns have already secured over R200 million at three FIFA CWC in the USA.

Initially, they received R170 million as a participation fee. Thereafter, Sundowns went on to claim over R35 million for their victory over Uldan.

Now, they have another R35 million to play for against Fluminense. Whereas, a draw would still see them earn almost R20 million (). However, this is not the result The Brazilians need.

WHO DO YOU THINK WILL WIN THE CLASH OF ‘THE BRAZILIANS’ WITH EVERYTHING TO PLAY FOR? ARE SUNDOWNS GOING TO THE ROUND OF 16 OR WILL THEY BE SENT BACK TO SA?
