Kaizer Chiefs fans slam tough opening league fixtures

Posted on July 19, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs will kick off their DStv Premiership campaign with a challenging away fixture against Stellenbosch FC, and fans are not happy.

After missing out on MTN8 qualification for the new season, Amakhosi fans were hoping for easier fixtures in their first five league matches; however, the Soweto giants will play Stellies and Mamelodi Sundowns next month.

Social media has been buzzing with reactions to the schedule, with many Amakhosi supporters expressing frustration at what they believe is a tough start yet again.

Kaizer Chiefs face tough fixtures in August

@yangamessi wrote: “The fact that we might get 1 point here is crazy.”

@_Mphankomo wrote: “Can someone please explain why we always play Sundowns in the first 5 fixtures of the league every season?”

@SandaCalu wrote: “The Chiefs of last season would collect 2 points out of 15. A draw against Sundowns and Stellies. This season I hope for 13/15. A drop of points against Stellies only.

“For the past 5 seasons, Amakhosi get Sundowns in their first opening fixtures. Something is fishy la. Some teams are set up for failure,” @NtuthukoH85378 tweeted.

Here are the opening five fixtures for Kaizer Chiefs:

10 Aug: Stellies v Chiefs
13 Aug: Chiefs v PLK City
19 Aug: Chiefs v Richards Bay
27 Aug: Sundowns v Chiefs
30 Aug: Arrows v Chiefs

Can Amakhosi challenge for the league?
