DANIEL MSENDAMI AND ABDOULAYE MARIKO LEAVE ORLANDO PIRATES
The Buccaneers have confirmed that Msendami and Mariko will spend the season with Marumo Gallants.
The two players now have an opportunity to secure regular game time away from Orlando Pirates and continue their development.
The news was part of an announcement of signing Bheki Mabuza from Gallants.
Mdendami and Mariko’s departures take the number of players who have left the Buccaneers since the opening of the transfer window to 18.
The full list of departures is Relebohile Mofokeng, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Sipho Mbule, Deano van Rooyen, Karim Kimvuidi, Melusi Buthelezi, Gilberto, Thabiso Lebitso, Patrick Maswanganyi, Goodman Mosele, Selaelo Rasebotja, Siyabonga Ndlozi, Yanga Madiba, Tshepho Mashiloane, Ethan Visagie, Bandile Shandu, Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko.
SOLID START TO 2026/27
Orlando Pirates have made a strong start to the 2026/27 season. The Buccaneers remain unbeaten under head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
They have played seven matches across all competitions. Orlando Pirates have won six and drawn one.
In the Betway Premiership, the defending champions have also impressed. They opened with a 2-0 win over Milford FC.
A 1-1 draw against AmaZulu FC followed. The Buccaneers quickly returned to winning ways.
They beat Chippa United 3-0. They then defeated Sekhukhune United 2-0.
Orlando Pirates finished their latest league outing with a 4-0 win over Kruger United. They now have 13 points from a possible 15.
The Buccaneers have also been clinical in front of goal. They have scored 12 times in the league.
They have conceded just one goal. That gives them an impressive start to their title defence.
Their MTN8 campaign has followed the same pattern. Orlando Pirates have reached the final for a fifth consecutive season.
They beat Durban City 2-1 in the quarter-finals. They then faced Sekhukhune United in the semi-finals.
The Buccaneers won the first leg 1-0 away. They completed the job with a 3-0 home victory.
That gave Orlando Pirates a 4-0 aggregate win. Their unbeaten start has now been matched by a strong cup run.
The only frustration came in the CAF Champions League. Orlando Pirates travelled to Mauritius for the first leg against La Cure Waves.
The Buccaneers were held to a 0-0 draw. They failed to convert their chances.
However, Orlando Pirates will now have home advantage at the Orlando Amstel Arena. They will look to finish the job and advance to the next round.
