According to SoccerBeat, the two parties have agreed on the terms of Mosimane’s return. An improved package is set to bring his salary in line with Hugo Broos’ previous deal.
The agreement could bring an end to the uncertainty surrounding the Bafana Bafana head coach position. Mosimane is now preparing to take charge of the national team once again.
PITSO MOSIMANE SET FOR BAFANA BAFANA RETURN
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach is expected to get straight to work. A preliminary squad reportedly set to be announced this week.
Mosimane will be filling the big shoes of Hugo Broos. He managed Bafana Bafana from May 2021 to July 2026, becoming the longest-serving coach in team history. Across 60 official matches, he achieved a record of 29 wins, 19 draws, and 12 defeats.

His major tournament achievements include winning the third-place bronze medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Furthermore, he qualified South Africa for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team reached the Round of 32 knockout stage for the first time.
Mosimane’s first major assignment will be the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Bafana Bafana will face Guinea and Eritrea as they begin their qualification campaign.
The Kagiso-born coach is one of the most-decorated in Africa. He won the 2004 SAA Supa 8 and 2005 Absa Cup with SuperSport United. With Mamelodi Sundowns, he won five Premier Soccer League titles (2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020). Additionally, he also lifted two Nedbank Cups (2015, 2020), and two Telkom Knockout trophies (2015, 2019).
In Egypt, he guided Al Ahly to the 2020 Egypt Cup. In Saudi Arabia, he won the 2023 Saudi First Division League title with Al Ahli.
On the continental and global stage, Mosimane won three CAF Champions League title. The 2016 title with Sundowns and 2020 and 2021 with Al Ahly.
Mosimane secured three CAF Super Cups (2017, twice in 2021) and won two FIFA Club World Cup bronze medals (2020, 2021). Individually, he is a five-time PSL Coach of the Season and the 2016 CAF Coach of the Year.
