SABC Sport has confirmed that the highly Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns fixture will be broadcast live on SABC 1. The build-up will start at 14:30. The match kicks off at 15:00 at FNB Stadium.

The public broadcaster missed the opening round amid ongoing broadcast discussions. However, SABC Sport has now confirmed its coverage of one of the biggest fixtures of Matchday 3.
The clash presents a major early test for both sides.
Kaizer Chiefs have made a perfect start to their league campaign. Amakhosi have won their opening two matches over Kruger United by 2-1 and Sekhukhune United 2-0.
Mamelodi Sundowns also enter the fixture with confidence. The Brazilians opened their campaign with a dramatic 3-2 victory over TS Galaxy after a late comeback.
WHAT HAPPNED LAST SEASON
Last season’s Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns battles ended in draws, setting the stage for another intriguing showdown this weekend. The two Betway Premiership giants could not separate themselves across either of their league meetings in the 2025/26 season.
The first clash took place on 27 August 2025 at FNB Stadium. The highly anticipated encounter ended in a 0-0 draw, with Kaizer Chiefs producing a disciplined defensive display to frustrate Mamelodi Sundowns.
The return fixture followed on 6 May 2026 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. This time, both teams found the net in a 1-1 draw.
Flávio Silva gave Kaizer Chiefs the lead in the 25th minute. Mamelodi Sundowns responded after the break, with Brayan León finding the equaliser.
The last time this heavyweight clash produced a winner was in the 2024/25 Nedbank semifinal. The memorable encounter took place at a sold-out Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Mamelodi Sundowns initially controlled the match after Lucas Ribeiro Costa put the Brazilians ahead.
However, Kaizer Chiefs changed the game after the break. Tactical adjustments helped the Amakhosi turn the contest around. Wandile Duba restored parity in the 57th minute. The goal sparked a remarkable comeback from Kaizer Chiefs.
Ashley Du Preez then completed the turnaround with a dramatic late winner. The 2-1 victory sent Kaizer Chiefs into the Nedbank Cup final.
That remains the last time either side claimed bragging rights in this fixture.
