African players to watch in the 2026/27 Premier League season

The 2026/27 Premier League season is almost here, and African football fans will once again have plenty of players to follow when the action gets underway.

The new campaign kicks off on 21 August, with Arsenal hosting newly promoted Coventry City in the opening match.

Here are five African players to watch during the 2026/27 Premier League season.

Amad Diallo – Côte d’Ivoire, Manchester United

Amad Diallo enters the new campaign with something to prove at Manchester United.

The Côte d’Ivoire international remains part of United’s 2026/27 squad and is listed among the club’s forwards.

Amad has already shown flashes of his quality at Old Trafford, including a seven-goal Premier League campaign in 2024/25.

The challenge now is consistency.

With Manchester United looking to compete higher up the Premier League table, Amad could become an increasingly important attacking option if he can stay fit and turn his creativity into regular goals and assists.

African star Mohammed Kudus – Ghana, Tottenham

Mohammed Kudus is one of the most exciting African attackers in the Premier League.

The Ghanaian joined Tottenham from West Ham United and remains part of Spurs’ 2026/27 squad.

His combination of strength, speed and technical ability makes him particularly dangerous when attacking defenders one-on-one.

There is also a tactical reason to watch Kudus this season.

The Premier League’s own analysis of Tottenham’s squad suggested that De Zerbi’s approach could suit Kudus on the right, particularly because of the opportunities created by one-on-one situations in wide areas.

If Tottenham’s new system clicks, Kudus could be one of the biggest beneficiaries.

Omar Marmoush to watch in the Premier League

Omar Marmoush will be one of the most closely watched African players at Manchester City.

The Egyptian forward is part of City’s attacking options and has already demonstrated his ability to score important goals in the Premier League.

His pace and movement give City another way of attacking opponents, particularly when he is allowed to drift into dangerous positions.

Marmoush could also benefit from City’s new era under Enzo Maresca as the club looks to challenge for major honours again.

And there is an intriguing African partnership developing at the Etihad.

Bryan Mbeumo faces another big Premier League test

Bryan Mbeumo will be under considerable pressure to deliver for Manchester United.

The Cameroon international joined United from Brentford in 2025 and remains part of the club’s 2026/27 squad.

Mbeumo has already shown that he can produce goals and assists in the Premier League, and his ability to play across the forward line gives United another attacking option.

He has also demonstrated his ability to perform in big matches.

In February 2026, he scored in Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham.

The 2026/27 season could therefore be a defining one for the Cameroonian.

If Mbeumo can combine his goalscoring ability with greater consistency, he could become one of the most influential African players in the league.

Antoine Semenyo takes on a new Premier League challenge

Antoine Semenyo may be the African player with the biggest opportunity to make a statement this season.

The Ghanaian joined Manchester City from Bournemouth in January 2026 after an impressive spell on the south coast.

City signed him on a five-and-a-half-year contract.

Before moving to Manchester, Semenyo had established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous attacking players.

The Premier League noted that he had scored 10 goals and recorded 12 goal contributions before his January move to City.

Now, he has the opportunity to do it on one of the biggest stages in English football.

Semenyo has already given City fans plenty of reasons for optimism during pre-season.

In City’s 3-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in Seoul, he provided two assists for Marmoush, while finishing City’s pre-season tour with four assists in three matches.

The combination of Semenyo and Marmoush could become one of the most exciting African attacking partnerships in the Premier League this season.
