Kaizer Chiefs have discovered their route into the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup following Thursday’s preliminary round draw in Cairo, Egypt.
The Betway Premiership side received a bye into the second preliminary round and will only begin their continental campaign later this month.
Amakhosi will face either Red Arrows or FC Rouge for a place in the next stage.
Fellow Betway Premiership side Durban City will also compete. They will face Burundian side Rukinzo in the first preliminary round.
KAIZER CHIEFS AWAIT WINNERS
The draw pairedt the Soweto giants with the winners of the first preliminary round tie between Red Arrows of Zambia and FC Rouge of Madagascar.
The winner over two legs will book a meeting with Amakhosi, with a place in the next phase of the competition at stake.
Receiving a first-round exemption means Kaizer Chiefs avoid an extra qualifying tie and will have more time to prepare for their return to continental action.

AMAKHOSI TARGET QUARTER-FINALS
Kaizer Chiefs return to the CAF Confederation Cup hoping to improve on last season’s campaign.
The Naturena outfit marked their return to African football by reaching the group stage. They were drawn alongside Zamalek, Al Masry and ZESCO United in Group D.
They produced several encouraging performances. Amakhosi finished third in the group and narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter-finals.
This season, Kaizer Chiefs will be determined to go one step further. They are rebuilding under new coach Fernando da Cruz who hold continnental experience.
