Kaizer Chiefs attacker Luke Baartman has shared what the club’s Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr told him when he was not in the team.
The 20-year-old struggled for game time last season only making a handful of appearances. He got a surprise start on Saturday against Kruger United and was awarded Man of the Match after helping his team to a 3-1 win.
Speaking after the match, Baartman shared his emotional moment with the Kaizer Chiefs boss.
“Last season, because I didn’t get a lot of chances to play he always messaged me when I’m not in the team to keep going, to keep my head up. That’s all,” he told .

“I want to give thanks to the man above,” Baartman added.
“I think this one is going straight to my granny, to my community.
“It’s been a tough season, last season. I’ve only been playing five games, started the last.
“I just want to give thanks to the coach for believing in me and trusting me, and thanks to my teammates as well.”
Baartman is expected to start Kaizer Chiefs’ next match against Golden Arrows in the MTN8 quarter-final next weekend.
Another youngster Wandile Duba impressed by scoring a brace and will also put his hand up to start against Arrows. A league win sees Amakhosi top the Betway Premiership ahead of rivals Orlando Pirates. The Buccaneers won their match against Milford 1-0 at the Orlando Amstel Arena.
