Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was not entirely pleased despite his side’s opening 2-0 win over Milford on Saturday.
Goals from Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi gave the Buccaneers all three points in their opening match of the season.
Ouaddou felt some of his players were still tired having played in the World Cup. The Betway Premiership-winning coach said his side should have finished off Milford in the first half.
“Look, it was not an easy game for the opening game of the PSL. I expected a little bit more in terms of being dominant on the ball, more control on the ball,” he said after the .
Ouaddou on missed opportunities
“I think first half even we managed to create some chances to kill the game.”
“I don’t think we had the control of the game, in the second half we made some tactical adjustments in order to find more players in the half spaces and at the same time to be more patient to give the opportunity to the second line to give us to find the run.”
Ouaddou said players like Oswin Appollis, Tshepang Moremi, and Thalente Mbatha were still tired having featured for Bafana Bafana in the FIFA World Cup in June.
“We can see that some of the players still a little bit tired with the World Cup, but good three points to take and we move on,” the Pirates coach said.
With the first match out of the way, the Buccaneers turn their attention to the MTN8. Ouaddou’s goal will be to retain the trophy he first won when he joined the team.
