Orlando Pirates have acquired the services of three youngsters from Midlands Wanderers FC to bolster their DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team.
The three players are goalkeeper Olwethu Mkhize, centre-back Banele Nxumalo and striker Vusimuzi Ntshangase.
What’s encouraging is that the trio are all below the age of 18, meaning Pirates will have enough time to nurture their talent.
The three players will have their work cut out for places in Roscoe Krieling’s squad as they will be competing for places with players who delivered the DDC title last season.
It is clear that Pirates are not only focusing on strengthening the senior team but they are also willing to build the team for the future.

“And just like that, it’s time to bid farewell to our young cubs as they transition from Lions to Pirates,” reads a statement from Midlands Wanderers.
“Midlands District Academy of Sport has once again proven that hard work, dedication, and development create opportunities. We are incredibly proud to announce that these talented young players have officially signed with Orlando Pirates, one of South Africa’s biggest football clubs.
“This is a proud moment not only for the players and their families but also for everyone who has been part of their journey. Watching them grow from raw talent into players ready for the next level is exactly what our academy strives for.
“This is not goodbye: it is simply see you later. We wish our boys every success as they begin this exciting new chapter. Continue to work hard, stay humble, and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way.

BUCS HAVE NURTURED STARS IN RECENT TIMES
The three abovementioned players will hope to follow in the footsteps of those who recently became superstars in the PSL.
Mohau Nkota, Relebohile Mofokeng and Mbekezeli Mbokazi all came through the Pirates DDC ranks.
And they all grabbed that opportunity with both hands as they left a mark before being sold to teams abroad.
Nkota moved to Saudi Arabia, while Mofokeng and Mbokazi moved to Belgium and the US respectively.
