Orlando Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng Honored in South African Parliament

Posted on June 26, 2025

Orlando Pirates’ young talent Relebohile Mofokeng received a special welcome in an unusual place—the South African Parliament.

The 19-year-old, who has impressed many with his performances for the Buccaneers, visited Parliament and was greeted with applause by President Cyril Ramaphosa and other lawmakers. The moment showed not only his rising fame in football but also his role as an inspiration to young South Africans.

A video shared on social media captured Mofokeng walking into the chamber as the crowd cheered. Ramaphosa smiled and acknowledged the young player, while several members of Parliament stood to applaud his achievements.

Mofokeng has had a standout year, playing for South Africa’s U-20 and U-23 teams and securing a long-term contract with Orlando Pirates. His skill, humility, and maturity have won him fans and now the admiration of the country’s leaders.

Many on social media celebrated the moment, calling it a fitting recognition of his journey from local football to the professional stage.

As South Africa looks for sports heroes to inspire future generations, Mofokeng’s visit to Parliament sends a clear message—excellence in sports is celebrated at the highest level.

The occasion may have been a surprise, but its meaning was clear—Relebohile Mofokeng is more than just a player. He is quickly becoming a symbol of national pride.
