Kaizer Chiefs are ready to part ways with Ashley Du Preez, with the ex-Stellies man failing to notch together enough productive seasons.
Chiefs ready a deal for Phili
According to several local reports, Stellenbosch winger Langelihle Phili remains near the top of Chiefs’ transfer wish list. The Glamour Boys could put together a player-plus-cash package to lure the 21-year-old to Naturena. Ashley du Preez could be the makeweight. Pacey, diminutive star Phili got seven goals in 27 league outings last term. Glody Lilepo is another player who could be heading out. The Congolese wide attacker bagged five goals and four assists in 27 league outings last term in a mostly wide attacking role.
Du Preez has failed to impress for Kaizer Chiefs on a consistent level
29-year-old Ashley du Preez arrived from Stellenbosch in July 2022. Injuries ravaged his efforts last season, as he only managed eight appearances in the Betway Premiership. You have to go back to 2022-23 for his most productive campaign in the final third, with six goals and five assists from 25 league outings. Since then, he’s not bagged more than four in a single campaign. Last season he didn’t trouble the scorers at all.
Chiefs kick off the new season against newcomers
Betway Premiership newcomers Kruger United will host Kaizer Chiefs on the first day of the 2026-27 season on Saturday, 1 August. The World Cup is a thing of the past, so we’ll soon be returning to the bread and butter of domestic league football. Hopefully Donald Trump doesn’t rock up and photo-bomb the Bushbuckridge team’s big moment.
