Kaizer Chiefs have turned their attention to the Toyota Cup after concluding their pre-season tour of Spain over the weekend.
Amakhosi spent more than two weeks in Spain preparing for the 2026/27 campaign, taking on a series of friendly opponents. They returned home without a victory after ending the tour with a 2-1 defeat to Elche on Saturday.
The Spanish trip gave new head coach Fernando Da Cruz an extended opportunity to assess his squad during his first few weeks in charge.
With only two new signings secured so far, further activity in the transfer market is still expected before the new season gets underway.
When are Chiefs playing the Toyota Cup?
Chiefs’ next assignment is the Toyota Cup, where they will host Zimbabwean outfit Scottland FC at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on Sunday, 26 July, with kick-off at 15:00. The match will be live on SABC 1.
The match will serve as the club’s final outing before they begin their Betway Premiership campaign against Kruger United, marking Da Cruz’s first official match in charge of the Soweto giants.
The Toyota Cup also offers Amakhosi supporters an early opportunity to see how the team is adapting to Da Cruz’s tactical approach ahead of what will be a highly anticipated season.
The Glamour Boys finished last season in third place in the Betway Premiership behind rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs will also participate in this year’s MTN8 competition having missed out in 2024 and 2025 editions. Da Cruz will play Kruger United then Golden Arrows afterwards.
