Orlando Pirates have welcomed Oswin Appollis back to training after the winger rejoined the squad in Marbella, Spain. The 24-year-old missed the opening days of the club’s pre-season camp after helping Bafana Bafana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while transfer speculation continued to intensify.
The Buccaneers ended the uncertainty by sharing images of Appollis training with his teammates under new head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou. His return comes as a huge boost for the Soweto giants, who are preparing for another demanding Betway Premiership campaign.

Appollis enjoyed a remarkable debut season after completing his high-profile move from Polokwane City. The explosive left winger quickly became one of Pirates’ most influential players through his pace, creativity and tireless defensive work.
He helped the Buccaneers win both the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout trophies. His ability to stretch defences and create chances also made him one of the most dangerous attackers in South African football.
The numbers underline just how dominant Appollis was throughout the campaign. He made 30 Betway Premiership appearances, scored nine goals and registered six assists, finishing the league season with 15 goal contributions and an outstanding 7.46 FotMob rating.
FOUR PSL AWARD NOMINATIONS
Appollis’ outstanding form earned him widespread recognition ahead of the 2026 PSL Awards. He was shortlisted for four prestigious honours after producing the best football of his career.
The Orlando Pirates star is among the nominees for the PSL Footballer of the Season award alongside teammate Relebohile Mofokeng and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena. He is also in contention for the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, Betway Premiership Midfielder of the Season, and the MTN8 Last Man Standing award.
With Appollis now back in full training, Orlando Pirates will hope the in-demand winger can carry his exceptional form into the new season despite continued interest from clubs in Europe.
