South African football analyst Junior Khanye has urged Kaizer Chiefs to sign former Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa.
The retired winger argued that Mabasa would benefit in the Amakhosi team, which has in the past created a lot of chances.
Chiefs have Ashley Du Preez, Khanyisa Mayo, Etiosa Ighodaro, Flavio Silva and Wandile Duba as strikers. With Tashreeq Morris gone and Du Preez likely to leave, the Glamour Boys might have space for one more striker.
Khanye feels Chiefs could benefit if they sign the ex-Pirates striker.
“The way the club is playing they need a sharp striker, someone dynamic, someone who understands the basics of football. Someone who can receive the ball and create space for himself,” he said as per iDiski Times.
“The guy is unfortunate it’s a pity that he left at Pirates when they were winning every game. If he had left and Pirates started losing, people would be talking about him.
“But he went to Stellenbosch and still showed who he is, breaking Sundowns supporters’ hearts, scoring week in and week out there. So I’d bring in Mabasa,” Khanye added.
Kaizer Chiefs could add another striker
Amakhosi are currently in Spain for their pre-season training. So far, they have signed two players: Renaldo Leaner and Thabo Moloisane but more players are expected to be brought in before the season starts next month.
Since the arrival of Fernando Da Cruz, several players have parted ways, including star player Gaston Sirino. With the team limited in attack, a striker or winger could be an option for Chiefs with the transfer window still open.
