Durban City have officially announced the signing of Tashreeq Morris ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign. The veteran striker strengthens the club’s attacking options as the newly promoted side continues to reshape its squad.
The 32-year-old arrives after leaving Kaizer Chiefs, where he spent the second half of last season. He joins Durban City with more than a decade of top-flight experience and over 200 senior appearances across all competitions.
TASHREEQ MORRIS JOINS DURBAN CITY
Morris joined Kaizer Chiefs in January 2025 from SuperSport United in a swap deal that saw Christian Saile move in the opposite direction. He made 15 appearances for Amakhosi, scoring one goal as the club lifted the Nedbank Cup.
The Mitchells Plain-born striker enjoyed a promising start at Naturena. However, injuries slowed his progress before the arrivals of Khanyisa Mayo and Etiosa Ighodaro pushed him further down the pecking order.
After completing the move, Morris spoke about his excitement at joining the Citizens.
“I am delighted to be joining Durban City FC and to become part of this exciting project. The Club has shown great ambition, and I am looking forward to contributing my experience, working hard for the team, and helping us achieve our objectives this season,” said Morris.
Durban City also welcomed the experienced forward to the club ahead of their return to the Betway Premiership.
EXPERIENCE FOR THE CITIZENS
Despite his short stay at Kaizer Chiefs, Morris remains one of the most experienced strikers in the Betway Premiership. Before arriving at Naturena, he represented Ajax Cape Town, Cape Town City, Sekhukhune United and SuperSport United.
The powerful forward also represented South Africa at the 2016 Olympic Games, adding international experience to an already impressive domestic career.
