Kaizer Chiefs forward Mfundo Vilakazi has thanked his former teammate Gaston Sirino for helping shape both his football career and personal life in an emotional tribute.
The Betway Premiership giants confirmed on Monday that Sirino had left the club after spending two seasons with Amakhosi.
MFUNDO VILAKAZI’S HEARTFELT MESSAGE
Just hours after the announcement, the 19-year-old academy graduate took to Instagram to thank the Uruguayan for the impact he had on his career during their time together.
Vilakazi described Sirino as more than just a teammate, admitting he was heartbroken to see the experienced attacker leave. The young midfielder expressed his gratitude in an emotional social media post.
“Papi 😢. Today is a very sad day for me. It’s hard to put into words how much you mean to me. Since joining this club I learned a lot from you on and off the field.
“It was a dream to share the dressing room with you. I’ll miss you a lot! God bless your path always. You’ve shaped my career and my life more than you probably realise. Thank you for everything.
“I love you forever bro.”
The message quickly attracted attention from Kaizer Chiefs supporters, who praised the close bond between the two players.
GASTON SIRINO’S REPLY TO THE YOUNG STAR
Sirino responded with an equally touching message, encouraging Vilakazi to fulfil his potential. “My son, it was lovely these two years we shared together. I’m going to miss you.
“God gave you an incredible talent; you just have to enjoy it and go for your dreams.”
The exchange highlighted the strong relationship the pair built during Sirino’s two-year spell at Naturena.
Meanwhile, Sirino has reportedly joined Durban City FC, while Vilakazi continues preseason training with Kaizer Chiefs in Spain.
