Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Durban City will represent South Africa in CAF competition next season with more then history and pride to play for.
Orlando Pirates and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns will compete in Africa’s premier club competition, the CAF Champions League.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs and Durban City will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Orlando Pirates return to the CAF Champions League after winning the 2025/26 Betway Premiership, ending a 14-year wait for the league title.
Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns qualified after finishing second in the league.
The Brazilians also enter the competition as defending CAF Champions League champions after lifting the 2025/26 title to secure a second continental star – ending a 10-year wait to do so – after following in the footsteps of Percy Tau and Pitso Mosimane’s 2016 Mamelodi Sundowns’ team.
Both clubs now have another major incentive.
CAF will award the 2026/27 CAF Champions League winners $6 million (R98 million).
KAIZER CHIEFS AND DURBAN CITY CHASE R65 MILLION IN CAFCC
Kaizer Chiefs secured qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing third in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership under co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.
They will be joined by Durban City who stunned South African football by winning the 2026 Nedbank Cup to secure automatic qualification for the continental competition.
The winners of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup will receive $4 million (R65 million).
The first preliminary round is scheduled between 4 and 13 September followed by the second qualifying round from 16 to 25 October.
If Amakhosi or Durban City progress, they will advance to the group stages which runs from late November 2026 until January 2027.
Each team will play six matches before the knockout rounds.
The quarter-finals will take place in February and March, followed by the semi-finals in April.
The competition concludes with the final, scheduled between 9 and 31 May 2027.
