Bafana Bafana midfielder Sipho Mbule has broken his silence after parting ways with Orlando Pirates earlier this month.

The 28-year-old midfielder spent just one season with the Buccaneers helping them to win a treble.

He featured in 23 matches across all competitions for the club, scoring one goal. The club opted not to renew his contract making him a free agent.

On Saturday, Mbule spoke for the first time since leaving the Buccaneers.

“Thanks for the year that was filled with happy moments than sad moments. Till we meet again. To Orlando Pirates
fans, thanks for everything; for the love, for the noise & the belief,” he wrote on socual media

Sipho Mbule moves to Iraq

On Saturday, Zakho SC announced the signing of Sipho Mbule.

“South African player Sipho Mbule has officially signed with our club for the 2026–2027 season in the Iraqi Stars Football League,” the club stated.

“Sipho Mbule stands out for his impressive speed and intelligence, with the ability to dictate the flow of the game at will and dominate the midfield.

“With Sipho’s arrival, our midfield will be stronger than ever.”

Mbule has played for SuperSport United, Sekhukhune United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Pirates in the PSL Despite his potential, off the field issues have haunted his career.

His move to Iraq might be what he needs to rediscover his form which made him one of the best midfielders in the country.

Sipho Mbule also missed selection in the Bafana Bafana squad for the FIFA World Cup.

Did the Master Chef make a good decision to move to Iraq?
