What Made Me Happy About Bafana vs Czechia – Tso

iDiski TV analyst Benedict Vilakazi has expressed pride and happiness at how Bafana Bafana applied themselves in the 1-1 draw against Czechia at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Bafana’s 16-year return to the global stage was a 2-0 defeat to co-hosts Mexico in the tournament opener two weeks ago. An encounter they also finished with nine men after Sphephelo Sithole and Themba Zwane were sent off.

Bafana coach Hugo Broos got a backlash for his starting 11 and conservative approach in that encounter and ‘Tso’ says what pleased him even more about the Czechia game was the fact that Bafana achieved the point with only two overseas based players on the field.

“I’m happy and I’m happy because there’s a lot of improvement between this game and the Mexico game,” said Tso on iDiski TV.

“A lot of improvement in terms of us being comfortable with the ball in terms of us trying to create chances. Even when we got the penalty you see that we were trying to do something compared to the Mexico game where I was asking myself why we were playing so defensively like we were defending a World Cup we had won.

“The team that can do that in an opening game is the one defending their trophy. The only thing we asked was go there and make us proud like they did tonight they showed this is us and what we can do.

“When you look at our team, we’ve got two players that are playing overseas that means 98% is local.

“That means we are moving in a good direction if we can have 98% of our local players competing against the Czechs with players that are playing in the top leagues in Europe.

“Let’s be proud of our boys. Yes, we expect more, we are always going to ask for more but in reality, I’m very happy.”
