Williams – What I Expect From Korea
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Reddit

Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has opened up on what they expect from their crucial clash against South Korea at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

South Africa returned to their FIFA World Cup base camp in Pachuca, Mexico, on Friday after battling to a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic in Atlanta.

The result kept Bafana Bafana in contention as they continue their campaign on football’s biggest stage.

The squad is set to spend the next few days in Pachuca focusing on preparations before travelling to Monterrey, where they will face South Korea in their next Group Stage encounter.

Looking ahead to the match, Williams acknowledged the challenge that awaits his side against the Asian opponents.

Despite South Korea coming into the fixture on the back of a defeat to Mexico in their second group-stage match, the Bafana goalkeeper believes they remain a dangerous team with plenty of quality throughout their squad.

However, the skipper expressed confidence in his team’s chances, insisting that thorough analysis and proper preparation could give Bafana Bafana a chance.

“It’s gonna be tough, it’s gonna be tough, I mean, they are so good,” said Williams, as per Sporty TV.

“The movement, the quality, the power, the speed and the quality of the players, you know, it’s amazing.

“It’s another opportunity for us to go and compete and I’m sure the guys will be ready then.

“We have to analyse them to see their strengths and weaknesses, how we can potentially hurt them as well and how they can hurt us.”
