Durban City FC have been officially confirmed as champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship after the arbitration case brought by JDR Stars and Cape Town Spurs was dismissed with costs today.
The ruling ends weeks of uncertainty and seals Durban City’s historic promotion to the DStv Premiership for the 2024/25 season.
A Hard-Fought Victory
The club faced a legal challenge disputing the final league standings, but the arbitration panel threw out the case, affirming Durban City’s rightful claim to the title.
The decision also orders the complainants to cover the legal costs of the proceedings.
Club chairman Sipho Ndlovu expressed relief and pride, saying:
“This is a triumph not just for our team, but for our loyal fans who stood by us through this battle. We’ve proven ourselves on the pitch and now in arbitration—no one can take this achievement away from us.”
