Kaizer Chiefs Transfers: 3 Wingers to Sign – Part 2
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Reddit

Strengthening Kaizer Chiefs’ wide areas should remain a priority despite the presence of Glody Lilepo, Pule Mmodi, Asanele Velebayi, Mfundo Vilakazi and Gaston Sirino.

If Amakhosi are looking for an experienced Betway Premiership winger capable of creating chances and stretching defences, then Sekhukhune United star Keletso Makgalwa deserves consideration.

This is a three-part series, read part 1 here.

KAIZER CHIEFS SHOULD SIGN KELETSO MAKGALWA

If Amakhosi are looking for a winger capable of making an immediate impact, then Sekhukhune United star Keletso Makgalwa deserves serious consideration.

Unlike many transfer targets who require time to adapt, Makgalwa is already a proven performer. His extensive local experience means he understands the demands of South African football and could slot straight into new coach Fernando Da Cruz’s system without a lengthy adjustment period.

Makgalwa enjoyed another productive campaign with Sekhukhune United in 2025/26, featuring in 27 Betway Premiership matches and providing nine assists from the left wing. While he did not find the back of the net, he remained one of the league’s most influential creators in the final third.

However, his finest individual season arguably came in 2024/25. During that campaign, Makgalwa created 71 chances, completed 55 successful dribbles, recorded 136 touches inside the opposition box, posted the highest expected threat (xT) per game in the league and collected six Man of the Match awards. Those numbers highlighted his ability to consistently trouble defenders and create opportunities for teammates.

Born in Mokopane, Limpopo, the winger’s career began in the Mamelodi Sundowns academy, where he won league titles before injuries disrupted his progress. Loan spells followed at Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows, TS Galaxy, All Stars and Upington City before he reignited his career at Sekhukhune United. His resurgence was rewarded with a senior Bafana Bafana call-up in late 2025.

EXPERIENCE COULD BENEFIT AMAKHOSI

Unlike some younger transfer targets, Makgalwa would bring valuable top-flight experience and proven creative quality to Naturena. His direct running, dribbling ability and vision would offer Kaizer Chiefs another attacking weapon capable of unlocking compact defences.

He could complement the aggression and direct style of Lilepo and Velebayi’s trickery and speed, while adding healthy competition across the frontline.

At 29 years old, Makgalwa may not be a long-term project, but his recent performances suggest he still has plenty to offer a side looking to return to the summit of South African football and compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
