Orlando Pirates fan favourite Kabelo Dlamini could be on his way out of the club ahead of the new season.
The 30-year-old midfielder remains a Pirates player despite growing speculation linking him with a move away from the Soweto giants.
Earlier this month, the Buccaneers parted ways with several players as they continued reshaping their squad, including Sipho Mbule and Bandile Shandu.
Orlando Pirates to swap Dlamini, report
According to iDiski Times, Stellenbosch FC are edging closer to completing the signing of Dlamini in what could become a swap deal involving players from both clubs.
“iDiski Times have it on good authority that Stellenbosch are on the verge of completing the signing of Kabelo Dlamini from Pirates in a deal that could see Faiz Abrahams and Dublin Boon joining the Buccaneers, with talks still ongoing between both clubs,” the publication wrote.
Pirates and Stellenbosch have already conducted business this transfer window, with defender Thabiso Lebitso making the move to the Cape Winelands club. Mthetheleli Mthiyane has joined the Buccaneers in a swap deal.
Should Dlamini complete the switch, it would bring an end to a successful six-year spell at Orlando Pirates.
Since joining the Soweto giants, he has made 187 appearances across all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing 23 assists.
During his time with the Buccaneers, Dlamini helped the club win one league title, four MTN8 trophies, one Carling Knockout Cup and two Nedbank Cups, establishing himself as one of the most popular players among the Pirates faithful.
With negotiations reportedly ongoing, Dlamini’s future could be one of the key transfer stories to watch in the coming weeks.
Orlando Pirates have already signed four new players ahead of next season.
