Kaizer Chiefs fans on the internet continue to troll Bafana Bafana before the World Cup. Is this for real or just jokes?
Kaizer Chiefs fans put the club first before their country?
A significant proportion of Chiefs fans have said they’ll support Mexico because of a lack of Glamour Boys in the national setup. 25-year-old left-back Bradley Cross is the only Chiefs representative in the 2026 World Cup squad. However, he’s likely to be a bit-part player at the tournament hosted in the Americas.
‘We are Mexico, and Mexico is us’ is the sentiment pouring out of several chronically online Kaizer Chiefs fans. Whether they’re being 100% serious or it’s some tongue-in-cheek fun, it still points to a long-standing feud between the club and national team coach Hugo Broos. The real question is, how many Chiefs players warrant selection?
Bafana’s World Cup return is around the corner
World Cup 2010 is something that none of us will ever forget. What a majestic experience. Turn to the person next to you right now and tell them where you were and how you felt when Kaizer Chiefs legend Siphiwe Tshabalala lashed South Africa into the lead against Mexico. The 2026 edition is three days away, with Mexico vs Bafana kicking off the showpiece at the Estadio Azteca on 11 June at 21:00 CAT. What an honour it’ll be for the players to open such a glittering event.
Does Bradley Cross merit inclusion? Let us know by clicking the comments tab below 🙂
