Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly signed defender Thabo Moloisane as a free agent following his departure from Stellenbosch FC.
The 26-year-old left the Cape Winelands club last week, with widespread reports suggesting he has already agreed terms with the Soweto giants.
Moloisane made close to 120 appearances for Stellenbosch and established himself as one of the club’s most reliable defenders. His arrival is expected to add leadership, experience and quality to the Amakhosi backline ahead of the new season.
He will not be the first Stellenbosch player to make the move to Naturena in recent years.
Kaizer Chiefs to sign free agent?
Defender Zitha Kwinika and forward Ashley du Preez both joined Chiefs from Stellies in July 2022, while midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa completed his move to Amakhosi in September 2023.
Kaizer Chiefs could still add more free agents to their squad in the coming weeks.
Former Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa is currently available after ending his loan spell at Stellenbosch. The experienced forward has previously been linked with a move to Amakhosi.
Another player on the market is former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Percy Tau. The Bafana Bafana star recently returned from a spell in Vietnam and could be considering one final run in the PSL.
Kabelo Dlamini is another player who could soon become a free agent. The talented midfielder has struggled for game time under Abdeslam Ouaddou this season and may leave Orlando Pirates.
Kaizer Chiefs have already strengthened their squad with the signings of Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane earlier this month after the duo were released by the Buccaneers.
