Kaizer Chiefs’ striker rebuild ahead of the 2026/27 season may not only depend on signing overseas names.
While Amakhosi continue searching for greater firepower and consistency up front, there are still several proven forwards in the Betway Premiership who could significantly improve the squad next season.

GHAMPANI LUNGU CAN ADD DEPTH TO KAIZER CHIEFS ATTACK
The encouraging news for Amakhosi is they already have Flavio Silva after his eight-goal campaign, while Etiosa Ighodaro is returning from injury, but Tashreeq Morris appears set to depart.
That still leaves room for another addition up front. One player who could fit that profile is Ghampani Lungu, especially because he is still relatively new to the striker role but has already shown instant success in the position.
Ghampani Lungu put together an impressive debut season after arriving at Siwelele FC ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
For most of the season, he operated out wide and spent over 2,000 minutes playing mainly as a winger. Then came a late tactical twist.
With Samir Nurkovic injured, and Zakhele Lepasa out of favour, Siwelele coach Lehlohonolo Seema pushed Lungu into a striker role.

FIVE GOALS IN SEVEN MATCHES
The response was immediate.
The 27-year-old hard-running Zambian attacker exploded into life with one of the standout performances of the campaign, scoring a stunning hat-trick against Mamelodi Sundowns before following it up with another goal against Sekhukhune United on the final day.
He ended the season with five goals, and one assist in seven matches. In the colours of SuperSport United as a winger, Lungu delivered 24 goals and 13 assists in 183 matches.
Could Kaizer Chiefs unlock even more? As a different profile from traditional box strikers, Lungu would bring movement, flexibility and unpredictability, offering Amakhosi a different attacking weapon with plenty of room still to grow.
