‘They came to defend’ – Mofokeng reflects on Pirates draw
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Orlando Pirates will need to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season after struggling for goals whenever their wingers and midfielders were tightly marked.

With strikers Yanela Mbuthuma and Evidence Makgopa failing to consistently find the back of the net, the Buccaneers are expected to target a proven goal scorer during the upcoming transfer window.

One player who could emerge as a potential option is Junior Dion of Golden Arrows.

The Ivorian forward enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 15 goals across all competitions, and could provide the clinical edge Pirates have lacked in front of goal.

Orlando Pirates to sign more players

Bucs legend Steve Lekoelea has already urged the Buccaneers to sign at least one or two strikers ahead of the new season.

Pirates could also face the difficult task of replacing key attacking stars Relebohile Mofokeng and Oswin Appollis, who have contributed close to 40 goals and assists combined this season.

The duo are reportedly attracting strong interest abroad and could secure lucrative moves after the FIFA World Cup. Mofokeng is believed to be valued at around R68 million, while Appollis could command a fee close to R40 million.

Reports have also linked Pirates with Sphiwe Mahlangu from TS Galaxy as the club prepares for a possible squad rebuild.

It remains to be seen how many new signings Orlando Pirates will make as they aim to dominate South African football next season.

The likes of Kabelo Dlamini and Bandile Shandu are expected to leave the club in the coming weeks.

Who should Pirates buy?
