Mamelodi Sundowns face a defining Betway Premiership test when they host Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld this Wednesday night at 19:30.
Log leaders Sundowns are unbeaten in 18 league matches and coming off back-to-back wins, but the title race pressure remains with Orlando Pirates closing in.
Amakhosi, meanwhile, are chasing a CAF spot and have already shown they can frustrate title contenders after last month’s 1-1 draw with the Sea Robbers.

GRANT KEKANA EXPECTS A BATTLE
The Polokwane-born Kekana has said he is not expecting an easy evening. “It’s going to be a tough game. I think they’ve done well, especially in the second round, to be in the position that they’re in,” Kekana told the media.
“So despite them having lost against Siwelele, we know what the form has been like, so we’ll be wary of it.”
Kabo Yellow are aware Chiefs held them to a draw earlier this season. “But we’ll obviously plan to nullify it on the day, so it’ll be a tough game, but one that will be prepared for,” he added.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS BETWEEN SUNDOWNS AND KAIZER CHIEFS
The two sides had played to a goalless draw in their first-round league encounter on 27 August 2025. Last season, Kaizer Chiefs managed a notable 2-1 victory over Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals on 13 April, marking one of their few successes against Masandawana in recent years.
The rivalry has been heavily skewed in favour of Sundowns over the past several seasons. Prior to the 2025/26 campaign, Sundowns recorded several emphatic victories, including a 4-0 thrashing of Chiefs in the 2024 Carling Knockout Cup and a 5-1 league win in May 2024.
