Kaizer Chiefs have moved decisively to secure the future of Aden McCarthy, with the 22-year-old centre-back signing a new two-year contract, including an option to extend.
The defender has made 25 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring two goals, while stepping up during a difficult period that saw Rushwin Dortley ruled out long-term.
KAIZER CHIEFS SIGN MCCARTHY AFTER DEFENSIVE TEST
The academy graduate has quietly become one of the more reliable figures in the Kaizer Chiefs backline, slotting in alongside Inácio Miguel, Given Msimango and Zitha Kwinika. His rise hasn’t been loud, but it has been steady.
There is also a deeper layer to his story. McCarthy continues a family link with the club, following in the footsteps of his father Fabian McCarthy. That history adds meaning, but his place in the team has been earned through performances.

Kaizer Chiefs are also responding to growing noise around the player. Interest from abroad has been building, and his involvement with South Africa’s U23 side only strengthens his profile in the Betway Premiership.
At 22, he is entering a crucial phase, no longer just a prospect, but a player expected to deliver regularly.
Kaizer Chiefs have often struggled to keep a settled defensive core this season, making this deal as much about stability as it is about the future.
